About US
Gateway Gospel Church is an active Tamil speaking community of faith in Melbourne. We are a welcoming and considerate congregation who worship and sing to our almighty God. We have been called to love one another unconditionally and serve as a gateway for the lost souls, to redirect them on the right path and lead them to salvation. We aim to do this by outreaching to the community and supporting the needy, and slowly sow seeds of faith in them.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.
About Our Pastor
Ps Gajan Selva shares a passion for God and for people, he has been in church leadership for over 20 years. Ps Gajan is married to Thevaki, and they have two wonderful children Kishon and Krista who partake in the ministry. He is apassionate preacher who desire to see the people connect with God and change life through the love of Jesus.

Vision
Our vision arises from our understanding of what the sovereign God purposes to do
for and through His church. The Great Commission remains our mandate from
Christ.
We see a new generation of five-fold ascension gift ministries inspired, equipped and mentored to strategically plant evangelizing churches in Melbourne.
We see leaders growing relevant, missional churches in every city and town in our nation.
We see the love, presence and power of God demonstrated in a new release of healings and miracles.
We see a family of churches and leaders partnering in loving, empowering relationships, adding value to one another, honoured to be new life in Christ, committed to be active Kingdom-minded believers.
We see churches through evangelism and discipling to reach all ethnic groups and sub-cultures nations by supporting missionaries, planting new churches and the reach unreached soles.

We believe that at Gateway Gospel Church, we are stronger
when we grow together. We are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing
environment where individuals and families can grow in their faith and build
meaningful relationships with others.

We believe that at Gateway Gospel Church, we are called to
serve one another as Christ served us. We are committed to serving our church
family and our community through acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity.

We believe that Gateway Gospel Church exists to belt the
globe with the Gospel and make Disciples of Christ who manifest the fruit and gifts
of the Holy Spirit by reaching the unreached Souls. We are committed to spread the

Church Beliefs
We believe the Bible is the word of God. It is truthful, trustworthy, and
applicable to our daily life.
We believe in one everlasting God, who created all things out of nothing. He exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is entirely loving and completely divine.
We believe sin has separated the human from God and His purpose for their lives.
We believe that only the Lord Jesus Christ, can reconcile us to God. He lived an exemplary life without sin, died on the cross in our place, and was resurrected to prove his victory and strengthen us for life.
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and to become born again, we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
We believe that we must be baptised with water and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit in order to live the holy and fruitful life that God plans for us.
We believe that God prepares each of us to successfully fulfill His purpose in life to worship Him.
We believe that our destiny is determined by our response to our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ will return as promised.

WHAT IS WATER BAPTISM?
The word “baptize” means ”to dip” or to “immerse”. To be baptized is to make a
public declaration of your decision to follow Jesus. It is not a means of salvation.
Salvation comes through repentance and belief in Jesus, and then baptism follows
as a symbol of those actions
(see Acts 2:38, 8:26-38).
WHY DO WE BAPTIZE?
Out of obedience to Jesus’ command (Matthew 28:19-20).
To follow the example of Jesus (Matthew 3: 13-17).
As a public identification with Jesus and His Church (Matthew 10: 32-33).
As a symbol of the change that has occurred in us when Jesus came into our lives (Romans 6:4-5).
Washing away our sins (we enter as we are and come out clean)
Death to our old self (immersion represents being buried at death)
Resurrection from death to new life - coming out of the water as a new person
Walking in newness of life (we walk out of the water into a new lifestyle)
To demonstrate a good conscience before God (1 Peter 3:20-21).

WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Baptism is not a symbol of Christian maturity. It is a symbol of the beginning of
the Christian life. Therefore, there is no need to wait a specific period of time
before getting baptized. You can become a Christian and get baptized a few
minutes later (see Acts 8:34-38).
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
All who have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour
(Leader and Forgiver) should be baptized (see Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:38).

about the next step. You can also read through all the passages that are referenced
in this brochure to make sure you have a good Biblical understanding of the
decision you’re making.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER?
Expect God’s blessing in our life. He always blesses steps of faith and obedience
(Isaiah 1:19).
Expect to feel freedom (Romans 6:16).
Expect an increase in faith as a result of your public confession (2 Corinthians 9:13).
Expect spiritual attack (potentially doubt or negative circumstances). Our enemy doesn’t like it when we obey God, but we can overcome him! (James 4:7)
”Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise
God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.” 2 Corinthians 9:13 (NIV)
“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may hive a new life”. Romans 6:4 (NLT)
